What PRP for Hair Loss Costs in Ontario

The per-session price is the easy part and the least useful. What decides what you actually spend is how many sessions, whether maintenance follows, and whether your scalp was ever a candidate.

The number first, because that is what you came for.

At this clinic, PRP for hair loss or scarring is $599 a session, $1,499 for three and $2,699 for six. PRP added onto another treatment is $199. Canadian dollars, before applicable tax. Those figures are from our published price list and they are the same ones on the PRP page and the pricing page.

Now the part that actually determines what you spend.

A per-session price is not the price

PRP for hair is normally a course rather than a single appointment, and it is maintained afterwards rather than finished. So the meaningful question is not what one session costs. It is how many sessions, over what period, and what happens after that.

We do not publish a session count. The honest reason is that it is a clinical judgement made after looking at your scalp, and a number printed on a web page would be a guess dressed up as a protocol. The three and six session prices exist because a course is the usual shape of this. They are a pricing structure, not a recommendation for you.

Anyone who quotes you a session count before examining your scalp is quoting a template.

What is in the price

A blood draw, taken here by a registered nurse. Preparation of the plasma in a closed system. Topical anaesthetic. Injections placed across the scalp in a planned pattern rather than scattered. And photographs at the first appointment.

That last one is not a frill. Hair changes slowly and memory is unreliable, so without a baseline photograph taken in fixed conditions, nobody can tell you in six months whether anything worked. If a clinic does not photograph your scalp at the start, ask why not.

Five questions to ask about a cheaper quote

PRP prices in Ontario vary more than almost any other treatment, and a lower price is not automatically a worse one. It is a reason to ask what produced it.

  1. What system is the plasma prepared in? Preparation varies, and so does what ends up in the syringe.
  2. Who draws the blood, and who injects? Ask for the registration, not the job title. Nurse, Registered Nurse, Registered Practical Nurse and Nurse Practitioner are protected titles with a public register you can search. Technician is not a protected title and means nothing in particular.
  3. How many sessions does the quoted price cover? A low per-session price attached to a mandatory eight session package is not a low price.
  4. Are photographs taken at the first appointment?
  5. What happens if it does not work? The answer should be a review and an honest reassessment, not a longer course.

The cost of the thing you might need instead

The largest wasted spend in this category is not an overpriced session. It is a correctly priced course bought by somebody who was never going to respond to it.

PRP supports follicles that are thinning and still alive. Where the scalp is smooth and the openings have closed, there is nothing for it to support, and a six session course there is money spent on skin that cannot use it. We go through how to tell the difference in does PRP work for hair loss.

The other version of the same waste is treating a scalp when the cause is elsewhere. Iron deficiency, thyroid disease, a shed following illness, childbirth or weight loss, or a medication you are already taking all cause hair to fall, and all are addressed by fixing the cause rather than by injecting the scalp. Our hair loss assessment exists to find that out first, with a Nurse Practitioner who can order the relevant blood work.

We take no referral fee for telling you that your money is better spent elsewhere, and the consultation that establishes it is free.

The cost nobody quotes

Maintenance.

PRP does not stop pattern hair loss. It supports the follicles that are currently struggling, and when the support stops, the underlying process carries on. That means the realistic budget is not a course, it is a course plus ongoing sessions for as long as you want to hold the result.

We will give you the maintenance picture at the consultation, for your scalp, rather than printing an interval here that may not be yours. What matters is that you plan for it. People who budget for the course alone are the ones who feel misled at month twelve, and they were, just not about the price of a session.

Tax, and what is not covered

PRP for hair loss is not covered by OHIP and is not an insured service. Applicable taxes are charged on top of the published price, and the full figure is confirmed with you before anything is booked. Some workplace health spending accounts allow cosmetic treatment and many do not, which is a question for your own plan.

Where the rest of the numbers are

Every published figure at this clinic is on the pricing page, taken from our own price guide. If you want to assemble an estimate across more than one treatment, the treatment cost estimator does it with the same figures.

If you want a number for your own scalp, book the free consultation and you will leave with one, or with a reason not to spend it.

The questions
that follow.

How much does PRP hair treatment cost?

At our Bradford, Ontario clinic PRP for hair loss or scarring is $599 a session, $1,499 for three sessions and $2,699 for six. PRP added to another treatment is $199. Those are Canadian dollars before applicable tax. Prices elsewhere in Ontario vary widely, and a figure you saw in a general cost guide is from a different clinic.

How many PRP sessions do I need for hair loss?

We do not publish a number, because it is set at the consultation after looking at your scalp. What we can say is that the three and six session prices exist because this is normally a course rather than a single appointment, and that anybody quoting you a session count before examining you is quoting a template.

Is cheap PRP for hair worth it?

It depends what has been cut to reach the price. Ask what system the plasma is prepared in, who draws the blood, who performs the injections and under what registration, how many sessions the quoted price covers, and whether photographs are taken at the first appointment. A low price with good answers is a good price. A low price with vague answers is the explanation.

Does insurance or OHIP cover PRP for hair loss?

No. PRP for hair loss is not an insured service in Ontario, and applicable tax is charged on top of the published price. If you have a health spending account through work, that is worth asking your own plan about, because some allow it and some do not.

Is PRP cheaper than a hair transplant?

Per appointment, yes, by a wide margin. Over several years the comparison narrows, because PRP is maintained and a transplant is a one-time surgical cost for the follicles it moves. They also treat different situations, so for many people only one of the two is actually applicable.

Do I have to keep paying for PRP forever?

If you stop, the support stops, and the underlying pattern loss carries on. That is the part of the cost people are not told up front. Budget for maintenance rather than for a course, and if that is not something you want to commit to, it is better to know before the first appointment than after the sixth.

Is there HST on PRP in Ontario?

Applicable taxes are charged on cosmetic treatment in Ontario, and our published prices are before tax. The full figure is confirmed with you before anything is booked.
