Treating the skin rather than the shape
Most injectable treatments change proportion. Skinboosters do not. They are hyaluronic acid, the same molecule used in dermal fillers, but formulated to be soft and mobile rather than firm, and they are placed in many small deposits across an area instead of one considered bolus in a single site.
Hyaluronic acid binds water. Sitting inside the dermis, it draws and holds moisture in the tissue and gives the skin more bounce and a smoother surface for light to bounce off. That is what people are describing when they say someone’s skin looks well.
What people actually come in for
The complaint is usually not a line. It is a quality: skin that has gone flat, that looks dull in photographs, that creases finely under makeup, that no longer looks hydrated no matter what is applied to the outside of it. Topical hyaluronic acid works on the surface of the skin. A skinbooster puts it inside.
Cheeks are common. So is the lower face, where fine crepiness shows. The neck and chest are treated a great deal, because that is where sun exposure and thin skin combine, and it is the area people notice in a mirror after years of only looking at their face. The backs of the hands are treated too.
Who this suits, and who it does not
It suits you if your skin is dehydrated, dull or finely crepey, if you want an improvement nobody can name, and if you are prepared to treat it as a course with maintenance rather than a one-off.
It does not suit you if you want volume, contour or lift, because a skinbooster is engineered specifically not to do that. It will not correct pigmentation, it will not tighten meaningful laxity, and it will not resurface acne scarring. We will say so plainly and recommend BBL, Morpheus8, CO2 or peels instead depending on what we find.
We do not treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection, or through inflamed acne in the area.
At the appointment
Your skin is cleansed and topical anaesthetic is usually applied, because there are more injection points than in a typical filler session. The product is delivered in a fine, even pattern with a very small needle, and the area may be gently massaged afterwards to distribute it.
You will be able to see and feel small blebs at each point. These are expected and settle.
Afterwards
Expect small bumps, some redness and possible pinpoint bruising, most noticeably on the neck. You will be asked to avoid makeup for a short period, to skip heat, saunas and heavy exercise for a while, and to keep the area clean.
The change is cumulative rather than immediate. This is a treatment judged at your next appointment, not in the car park.
If it is wrong for you, we say so before you book again. A nurse-practitioner-led clinic has a licence at stake. That is the whole reason we are careful - and the reason the honest answer sometimes is "not this, and not yet".

Every clinic lists who a treatment suits. This is the other half. If any of these is you, say so at the consultation and we will talk about what else might work, or about waiting.
- You want volume, contour or lift. A skinbooster is engineered specifically not to do that.
- Your concern is pigmentation, laxity or acne scarring. We will point you to the right tool.
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding. We will pick this up afterwards.
- You have a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid products.
- You have active skin infection or inflamed acne in the treatment area.
- You want one treatment and no maintenance. This is a course, then upkeep.

Every injectable in this clinic is placed by a licensed registered practical nurse - never a technician, never someone on a weekend certificate. Nothing here happens on the same visit you first walk in, unless you want it to and it is right for you. This is the order we work in.

Consult
We look at what is actually bothering you, ask what you have tried, and tell you honestly whether this is the right treatment. Costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

Plan
Your clinician maps the plan with you and agrees it before you commit to anything. The plan is signed off by our Medical Director before treatment begins.

Treatment
Your clinician carries out the plan exactly as it was agreed. You are told what is happening, where and why, before it starts - and the quoted price does not change on the chair.

Review
We see you again to check the result and adjust the plan for next time. The first appointment is the start of the plan, not the whole of it.

What is a skinbooster?
A skinbooster is a soft, uncross-linked or lightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid injected in small deposits throughout the skin to improve hydration and quality. It is not designed to hold a shape. Where a dermal filler is placed in one spot to create structure, a skinbooster is spread across an area to change how the skin itself behaves.
Will it change the shape of my face?
No, and that is the point of it. Skinboosters are deliberately too soft to project or contour. People choose them precisely because they want their skin to look better hydrated and more reflective without anyone being able to point at a feature that has changed.
How much does it cost?
Skinboosters start at $595 at our Bradford clinic. Your final plan depends on the area treated and how many sessions we recommend, and we confirm the whole cost with you at consultation before anything is booked.
How is this different from PDRN or polynucleotides?
A skinbooster is hyaluronic acid and works largely by holding water in the skin. Polynucleotides are DNA fragments and work by prompting a repair and regeneration response in the tissue. They are not the same product doing the same job under different names, and if your main issue is fragility and repair rather than dryness, we will recommend polynucleotides instead.
Where can skinboosters be used?
The face is the most common area, but the neck, the chest and the backs of the hands are all treated with them, and those are often the places where dehydrated, crepey skin bothers people most. We will tell you if an area is not appropriate for you.
How many sessions will I need?
Skinboosters are normally planned as a short course rather than a single treatment, then maintained. The number depends on your skin and the area, and we will map out the full plan and the full cost at consultation rather than adding sessions as we go.
Will there be marks afterwards?
Small raised bumps at each injection point are normal and settle. Bruising is possible, particularly on the neck and around the eyes. Because the product is placed across a whole area rather than in one spot, there tend to be more injection points than with a filler treatment, so plan your week accordingly.
Who should not have skinboosters?
We do not treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active skin infection or inflamed acne in the treatment area, or in anyone with a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid products. If your skin concern is pigment, laxity or scarring, we will tell you that a skinbooster is the wrong tool and point you to the right one.
