Pregnancy and breastfeeding

What we will not do,and why we will say so.

This page does not tell you what is safe in pregnancy. It tells you what this clinic will and will not treat, which is the part we are actually qualified to answer.

Treatment by treatment

Where we have already said no.

23 of our 30 treatments carry a stated position on pregnancy or breastfeeding on their own page. Each line below is quoted from that page rather than rewritten here, so the two can never disagree.

The honest bit

Where we have not published a position.

These 7 do not carry a pregnancy or breastfeeding line on their page. That is not the same as being safe, and this page will not pretend otherwise. It means nobody has written the position down, so there is nothing here to quote.

Ask us about any of them. If the answer is that we would rather wait until afterwards, that is the answer you will get, and it costs nothing to find out. A consultation is free and commits you to nothing.

A white reclining treatment chair in a bright treatment room at the clinic.
Booking a consultation while you are pregnant is fine and commits you to nothing. Plenty of people plan now and treat later.
Read this before you take anything from this page

This is a clinic policy page, not medical advice.

We have deliberately not written a word about what is safe in pregnancy generally, what changes by trimester, or how any medicine behaves. Those are questions for the people looking after your pregnancy, who know your history and have your notes.

What we can tell you is what happens here, which is what the tables above are. If you want a treatment that is on the first list, we will keep the plan and see you afterwards. That is not a sales tactic, it is just what we do.

If you have already been treated and have since found out you are pregnant, tell us and tell your midwife or doctor. We will give you the exact record of what was used, where and how much, which is the information they will actually want.

Answers

What people ask

Why will you not just tell me what is safe?

Because that is a clinical question about you, not a general one, and a web page is the wrong place for it. What this page can honestly tell you is what this clinic will and will not do, which is a different and answerable question. Anything about your own pregnancy or feeding belongs with your midwife, your obstetrician or your family doctor, and we would rather say that plainly than write something reassuring.

A treatment is not on either list. Does that mean it is fine?

No. It means the clinic has not published a position on it, and this page will not invent one. Absence of a warning is not a green light. Ask us, and if the honest answer is that we would rather wait, that is what you will get.

Can I book now for after the baby arrives?

Yes, and a lot of people do. Several of our treatment pages say exactly that: we will keep the plan and see you afterwards. There is no rush and no expiry on the conversation, and a consultation while you are pregnant costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

I had a treatment before I knew I was pregnant.

Tell us and tell whoever is looking after your pregnancy. We can give you the record of exactly what was used, where and how much, which is the information they will want. That is a far more useful thing for us to do than to reassure you, and it is what we would want in your position.

What about skincare I already use at home?

Bring it, or photograph the backs of the bottles and bring that. Some active ingredients are ones people are routinely told to pause, and the honest answer for a specific product on a specific person is a conversation rather than a list. We would rather look at what you actually own than talk in generalities about ingredients.

Do you treat postpartum concerns?

Yes, once you are ready, and there is no schedule you are supposed to be on. Pelvic floor weakness after childbirth is treated here and has its own page at /conditions/urinary-incontinence/. Skin and body concerns are the same conversation as any other: come in, get an honest assessment, and book nothing on the day if you do not want to. Call 647-333-6805 whenever suits you.
