SPF
The single product in this shop with the most evidence behind it, and the one most often abandoned from October onwards.
Why we are insistent about this one
Read almost any treatment page on this site and the same instruction turns up in the aftercare. Sun protection between sessions is what determines whether your BBL result holds. Sun protection after CO2 resurfacing is not optional. It is essential after microneedling, and our peels page notes that in Ontario summers that single instruction does most of the work.
That is not a sales line. It is the same point arriving from four different directions: the most expensive thing you can do to a course of treatment is walk out of it into July without a sunscreen. Everything else in this shop is optional in a way that this is not.
The sunscreens we stock
Mineral and hybrid, tinted and untinted, all broad spectrum.
How to choose between the ones above
Start with the finish, because the sunscreen you will actually wear is the one that works. Moisture Matte is a 100% mineral formula, tinted and matte, available in more than one undertone. Sheer Hydration is the untinted daily option, with a versatile tint available if you want light coverage without matching a shade. Clear Shield is the ultra-light, oil-free one, which is usually the answer for oily and congested skin.
All of them are broad spectrum. Several are described by their maker as also shielding against pollution, HEV and infrared, which is a real difference in formulation rather than a flourish, though UV is still the thing you are buying it for.
Where it sits in a routine
Last, every morning, over the moisturiser. AlumierMD makes it Step 4 in every collection it sells, including the ones aimed at sensitive and blemish-prone skin, which tells you it is not treated as an optional extra even in routines built around something else entirely.
The mistake people make with it
Treating it as summer equipment. The second is booking a course of light or laser work and then not protecting between appointments, which is the fastest way to pay for a result and then undo it. Our BBL page is explicit that the treatment removes the damage that is already there and does nothing to stop you making more.
A related one: arriving for light-based treatment tanned or recently sun exposed. We will move your appointment if that is the case, and daily sun protection is a large part of why the appointment does not need moving.
Ask us before you start, if
Your pigmentation is melasma rather than sun damage. Melasma is heat and hormone driven, which is why we steer melasma-prone skin away from aggressive light treatment and toward careful topicals and rigorous protection instead. The sunscreen is part of that plan and worth choosing deliberately.
You are mid-course on laser hair removal, BBL or resurfacing. Your aftercare already covers sun protection, and we would rather match the product to it than have you guess.
